The noughties: a decade of lost species

From rhinos to redwood trees, the noughties decade has spelled the end for some species of plants and animals. Many have not been sighted in their natural habitat for some time, while others have been declared officially extinct by body that compiles an annual ‘red list’ of the status of endangered species, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN)
